The Every Shingle Heart Foundation

The roof over your head is everything.

A national foundation that partners with roofing companies to give free roof replacements and repairs to homeowners who need one and can't afford one. So no family loses their home to a hole in the ceiling.

Our mission

A failing roof is where a household crisis quietly starts.

Insurance non-renewal. Mold. Ceiling collapse. Loss of the equity a family has spent a lifetime building. For a household already stretched by medical bills, a job loss, or the death of a spouse, a $15,000 roof isn't a home improvement decision. It's an impossibility.

The Every Shingle Heart Foundation exists to change that equation. We connect homeowners in genuine need with licensed roofing companies who volunteer materials and labor. We coordinate the project, verify the need, and cover any gap donations can bridge. And we say thank you loudly, because the people doing this work deserve it.

How to help

Three ways to put a roof over someone's head.

Every roof we cover is a partnership between someone who gives, a company who builds, and a neighbor who nominates a family they know needs help.

i. Give

Donate to the fund.

Every dollar goes to materials and labor for a specific family's roof. Operating costs are covered by partner companies, so 100% of your gift lands on a rooftop. Any amount helps, and recurring monthly gifts fund more roofs, faster.

ii. Partner

Join the roofer network.

Roofing companies commit to one donated roof per year at cost. In return you're named on every project you deliver, featured on our site, and part of a national community of contractors changing how the trade shows up for its customers.

iii. Nominate

Nominate a homeowner.

If you know someone whose roof is failing and who can't afford to replace it, tell us their story. Every application is reviewed with dignity. We ask about the situation, the roof, and the household, never about credit.

Our 2026

A modest goal, a stubborn one: twelve roofs by the end of 2026, across three states.

Twelve families housed under new roofs by December 31. Founding partner roofing companies in three states. And one growing conversation about why "I can't afford it" shouldn't be the end of a call to a roofer. The families are already out there. The roofers are already generous. We're the connective tissue.

Why now

An engineer's mind. A homeowner's heart.

Miriam McKisic, Founder of the Every Shingle Heart Foundation

Miriam McKisic spent a decade as an industrial engineer before building a real-estate practice in Tampa Bay. Both careers taught her the same lesson: the interesting problems live in the gap between what someone genuinely needs and what's obviously available to them.

That gap is the whole story of a family who needs a new roof and can't afford one. Watching her husband Josh run Happy Roof, Miriam kept seeing the pattern that plays out at almost every trades company, a family in need, a roofer who wants to help, and no formal way to close the loop.

So she built one. The Foundation launches with Happy Roof as founding partner in Tampa Bay, with a plan to bring roofing contractors in Orlando, Jacksonville, and other metros into the network as we scale. Helping one family is a good day. Building the infrastructure to keep doing it, month after month, city after city, is what changes an industry.
